is a performance event like no other! There will be several performing and audience experience areas throughout the space. The audience will move through the space following the action according to the different aspects of the show.
Atmosphere and Installation
The Studio itself is a sight to be “scene”.
Wandering through the eclectic, sprawling, raw shell of the Michalopoulos studio, you will have a rare privilege to witness Michalopoulos’ works, unfinished. Still at his easels will be paintings in progress, and at workshop, abstract sculptures in development. Within this unbridled studio atmosphere will be larger than life portraits of the evening’s performers, painted by Andrea Tomasofsky, suspended, these circus posters will feature the main attractions of the eve. Illuminating the various performing areas will be lighting installations from Unique Products designers Heather MacFarland and Mark Kirk. And down on the floor, but definitely not to be overlooked, you’ll find Walk, sound, visual and performance installation designed by Marcus Brown and Nathan Weidenhaft, an Electro-Sonic Painting floor that produces sound and images as viewers walk on the surface.
The Big Big Show!
This is a show like no other and one not to miss!
At entry, Renegade Pyrotechnics will dazzle you with spinning fire. Inside the studio, jazz it up with Chrystal Skye, sultry and steamy songstress. This leads into the groove of the Improvisational Arts Council and improv dancers from the Chard Gonzalez Dance Theatre. Step into the cinema for some out there, experimental, animation films and projected images by Bluebird Art’s Andrea Dupree. Claire De Lune will intoxicate you with her 19th century saloon scene. Marion Ette will be flying high up in the rafters with aerial acrobatics swinging from a silk sling. Dante will amaze and bewilder with his vaudeville style, Chaplin-esque, wildly theatrical magic act. Marygoround will pour out her heart, stitching yarns with her song, in her vagabond just jumped off a train manner.
The evening crescendos with PAINT! an electro-sonic painting performance featuring Marcus Brown and Nathan Weidenhaft. These two artists will paint and play music, the sound being emitting from their paint brushes and canvas, a technology invented by the artists. Brown and Weidenhaft will be joined by a selection of New Orleans musicians (TBA) evolving into an Electro-Sonic musical and visual playground never experienced before!
